Dummy Cake : Fondant

Having Sydney and watching her grow was the most rewarding time of our life. We were married for 6 years before Sydney was conceived. Guess God must have finally given in to our undying plead for a child. We are certain that if not for God's grace and mercy we will still be childless. We believe that children are gifts from God and we are thankful that God entrusted us with this precious gift.

Though Sydney was an easy child and taking care of her was a bliss but due to my work commitment I hardly had any time for my personal indulgence. During those years I only bake once a year and that is during Chinese New Year.

Now that Sydney is slightly older and I can afford to squeeze some time for myself, I decided to take up a hobby. Since my interest has always been baking, I thought it would be a good idea to take up cake decorating. I am glad I did, 'coz I am enjoying it so very much. Besides that, I also met many friends who share the same interest. Some of these friends have grown to be great sharing partners and they are Amy and Anne.

So far, I have completed Wilton course 1 and 2 and mid way into course 3. In course 3, we learnt to decorate the cakes with fondant. Here's a dummy cake that I made in one of my course 3 classes.

Though I have attempted with fondant before, but this is the first time that I am doing it correctly. Especially on the technique of how to cover the cake. The pointers given by the instructor would not have been something that I would have thought of. I am really glad that I sign up for this course.
