Ushering In New Year The VOLKSWAGEN Style

New Year is the day that my hubby's Volkswagen (VW) enthusiast friends are gathered at our home for a tea party to talk about all things Volkswagen. This tea party tradition has been running for the past 4 years now and will probably go on for many more years. It is usually a pot luck set-up and the less creative ones will just pop around the corner on the way to our place with some goodies from Tesco.

The topics discussed in these tea parties include how to upgrade old VW models to look like the latest models, the art of teutonic OEM+ so call upgrades *not sure what this means-courtesy of dear hubby*, how to get more horsepower out of thin air, which junkyard has the most spare parts, how to maximise your storage space into a full range VW spare parts service centre, what spare parts to barter trade, how to avoid fighting with spouse over VW matters.......blah blah blah...you get the idea?
Sometimes, it worries me that a bunch of guys can sit around all day talking nothing but VWs. But guess this is a lot better than talking about girls.......*cheeky grin*

Usually these guys would bring along their spouses and girlfriends. Poor spouses and girlfriends could get quite bored sometimes. May be it is about time that we, the spouses and girlfriends start our our own VW gatherings to talk about which pink shades to paint the car, how to create more compartments in the car for make-ups, how to convert the booth into a shoe rack ...etc...etc.

Back to the tea party........for this year's tea party I prepared VW cupcakes, otak-otak bruschetta, chicken pie, cinnamon rolls, raisin scones, banana muffins and for fruits; we had papaya.

VW cupcakes

Chicken pie, tower of cupcakes and otak-otak bruschetta.

Banana muffins, raisin scones and cinnamon rolls.

For those who are interested, I'll be posting some of these recipes another time.

Hi!
Your banana cakes look awesome and from what I can see, they don't shrink away from the cups...hope to see your recipe soon!
I've tried some recipes of banana cake but I don't get the result like yours - a little browned on the top. If I bake it till its brown, it's usually burnt at the top! :(
so my cakes are very pale...not very appetizing! :\

Thanks for dropping by. We only have 1 Ikea over here and it is located at the Kota Damansara area (stone's throw away from 1 Utama). This is a new product and may be available at a later date. Try checking out your Ikea again...

OMG! Those cupcakes are fantastic looking,I'm so sorry I couldnt make it, if I had, I guarantee you I would have sneaked one of them home, had it laminated and attached with super glue to the dashboard of my Golf. Of course being the greedy pig that I am, I would probably have tried to eat it at some point in time, choked on the laminate and wrapped my car around a tree. Still, there worse ways to go than going out with a smile cos your mouth is stuffed with a VW cupcake I reckon!

Sreether : What can I say ... its your lost for not making it but we shall all live yet another year. This time make sure you get yourself here. If you promise to be a good boy, maybe and just maybe you will get more than 1 cupcake :-P.
