When I first started cake decorating, I had BIG dreams. I wanted to do cake sculpturing, transforming all things into cakes and creating out of this world designs. In pursuing this dream, I not only get professional help but also ended up buying lots of cake decorating books. I was very charged up........until I realised how much time is required to create a good cake *sigh*.
After so many months though I still have that dream (in smaller scale now), but the reality is I prefer to decorate character pan cakes. Character pan cakes are cakes baked using moulds shaped from popular TV or movie characters. After baking these cakes, what is required is to decorate them with various colour icing and...viola..the cake is ready.
I guess the reason why I like making these type of cakes is not much brain juice is required. Moreover the decorating part helps me to relax after a day's hard work. I supposed this is very similar to how most parents calm their toddlers down by getting them to colour characters from a Colouring Books.
Recently I had a request to do a Strawberry Shortcake cake. I was very excited, like a toddler being given a Colouring Book with a set of colour pencils.
And out of all the character pan cakes that I have baked thus far, this one is my favourite as it has my favourite colour........PINK.
